Beautiful colorful work, signed lower right ‘gerardiaz’. Not dated but given the style iof the painting, probably 60s/70s.
Gérard Diaz, known as Gérardiaz, is a painter, draftsman, illustrator of French nationality.
Born: 1938, Mostaganem (Algeria)
Living/working place(s): Paris (Île-de-France, France).
Gérard Diaz studied at the Oran School of Art from 1954 to 1957 and then at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris from 1957 to 1961. He has lived and worked in Paris since 1957. Diaz has been teaching at the École des Beaux-Arts of Rouen since 1971.
The work offered here is an abstract, cubist and expressionist painting which depicts a still life of, among other things, a bunch of flowers in a vase.
Oil on canvas, thickly set up. Appealing colors such as mint green and pink.
In good condition with crackle, which also gives character and age to the painting.
