Mosaic artwork coffee table by versatile artist Rien Goené, The Netherlands, 1959

Rare and unique artwork coffee table designed and made by Rien Goené, Utrecht 1958. Rien Goené was a Dutch artist, painter and sculptor who inspired his work on the Cobra movement that was founded in 1948. He started making tables together with Paul Kingma, who was very successful making this kind of tables between 1958 and 2000.

Rien Goené focused more on sculptures and only made very few tables. Very nice and richly inlayed with the most beautiful stones he could find. The tables are very unique and have a great abstract finished top. Table is signed at the bottom Rien Goené and his 2 hand prints.

The table is in good original condition with user marks along the edges and corners, which you see often with these type of tables. It gives it an even more brutalist look & feel.
