Rare 1st Edition “Decora” or “Z” lamp, Louis Christiaan Kalff for Philips, 1950s

Beautiful table or desk lamp, designed by Louis Christiaan Kalff  for  Philips.

This model is known as the “Decora, and/or Z” lamp, an iconic design from 1956.

This version is an early 1st edition, particularly rare as it is differs from the later versions which have  a brass ring with counterweight in its base and its ‘foot arm’ is cylindrical as the later version is square shaped.

The round shaped shade is made of black laquered metal, fixed to a bass structure maintened by a  solid iron tubular weight at the base.
